SHAPE AND FORM

We're interested in details that don't announce themselves. Each element - collar, pocket, sleeve, hem - refined until it works without explanation.

Take pockets: size, opening placement, how many entry points. Positioned to follow the garment's natural drape, barely visible from the front but immediately accessible. Or sleeves constructed for full range of movement, tested while reaching and lifting to ensure fabric doesn't pull or restrict.

These decisions affect both appearance and function. A detail that works visually but fails in use doesn't succeed. Neither does one that's practical but disrupts proportion. We adjust until both align - moving seams by centimeters, revising angles by degrees, testing over weeks of wear.

Small calibrations accumulate. Each shape in this section has been tested across multiple seasons.

MATERIAL AND TEXTURE

Good fabric alone doesn't guarantee a good garment. A beautiful textile can fail if the pattern doesn't suit its properties. The drape of silk requires different construction than wool's natural structure. Heavy linen needs different allowances than lightweight cotton.

We test how materials behave in specific shapes. Does this weave hold a pressed crease? How does this weight respond to gathering? Will this fiber pill where fabric rubs? The answers inform both material selection and pattern development. They work together.

Testing happens over time. Wearing samples through different conditions. Testing various washes. Understanding how fabric responds to body heat, movement, stress. Which combinations of material and form actually perform, which only look right initially.

Balance means all three align: appearance, hand-feel, function. Often these pull in different directions. Finding where all three work together—that's what we're building toward.
